Company Profile

Sun-Link-Sea Forest Eco Resort and nearby Xitou are both famous scenic spots in Nantou County.
The location of the resort used to be called Xidi where, in the early days,
the gentle slope beside the river acted as a rest area for the lumberjacks coming down from Xitou after they finished their jobs.
Later, in the 1970s, when teenagers were quite interested in outdoor activities, the route from Xitou, to Sun-Link-Sea, to Alisan became popular among teens.
The late Mr. Liu Anding responded to the government’s policy encouraging the public to invest on tourist business,
by raising money to set up Sun-Link-Sea Recreation Inc. and develop the Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area.
In 1980 the official operation started. With improved services, the number of tourists had been increasing steadily by word of mouth,
reaching its peak in 1995. The annual number of the tourists reached 600,000.
To accommodate more tourists, the corporation built Juying Village, Longzhu Building (now Nature Education Center), Wooden Cottages, and Sun-Link-Sea Hotel.

Company History

In 1996, as Typhoon Herb stoke Taiwan, the highway connected to Sun-Link-Sea was destroyed.
With an economic recession, the number of tourists started to decline.
In 1999, 921 Earthquake seriously damaged the resort, and the connecting highway was again disrupted.
The corporation was forced to stop operation and to rebuild the resort.
During the reconstruction, Chairman Chen Chaokun took charge of all operations.
After four years of rehabilitation and recovery of the resort, on August 30, 2003 the Anding Tunnel was inaugurated. On September 1,
the resort reopened to the public and brought a new life to post-earthquake tourism in Zhushan and Lugu.
Since 2008, aiming at the natural scenery, wild animals and plants, natural education, strategies for managing eco-tourism, trails,
and interpretative systems, we have invited many domestic scholars and experts to conduct surveys, do research, and make plans and improvements.
Sun-Link-Sea gradually combined tourism with natural conservation in Taiwan.
By promoting in-depth eco-tours, we attract the tourists who love getting close to nature while enjoying vacations.

Start Again

In 2010, to transform the park from tour orientation into vacation orientation, and to emphasize our differences from other theme parks featuring mechanical facilities, we changed the thirty-year name “Sun-Link-Sea Forest Recreation Area” into “Sun-Link-Sea Forest Eco Resort.”
We also renovated Longzhu Building and made it Sun-Link-Sea Nature Education Center. We actively designed a variety of teaching plans and invited schools to have field trips to Sun-Link-Sea, something that has been positively acknowledged by many students, parents, and teachers.
We have been actively promoting the eco-trip combined with environmental education to make the tourists have a deeper understanding of nature conservation.
Different from other theme parks featuring mechanical facilities, we have successfully presented our features as an Eco resort. We have won the “excellent prize” in consecutive years at the competition of “Tourist and Entertainment Industry Assessment”, held annually by the Tourism Bureau and Ministry of Transportation.

Prospect

  • With the beautiful natural scenery as background, we’d like to create a resort full of in-depth humanity.
  • Set up a temperate flower center, actively grow themed flowers for the four seasons, and create a fine environment for enjoying flowers.
  • Utilize the abundant natural resources to design an important local center for ecological experience, environmental learning, and teaching on nature.
Sun-Link-Sea will accompany students, parents and children, and social groups as they walk into the natural field, getting close to, discovering, and experiencing the mysteries of the scenery, flowers, ecology, and natural aestheticism, through proper schedule planning and the assistance and guidance of professionals. Let’s protect and cherish the treasure of nature, here at Sun –Link-Sea.
